Work Experience

Agile and Leadership Coach

2018 - 2020
Self-employed
  • Implemented Agile methodology for the aerospace semiconductor manufacturer in product development, manufacturing engineering, and operations. Agile teams reduced product development time by 50% for a savings of over one million dollars.
  • Served as an Agile coach for a medical device contract manufacturer, including delivering training and acted as a scrum master during the meetings of startup and coaching executives teams. The teams improved on-time delivery (OTD) to customers by 25%.
  • Acted as a system administrator and lead trainer on Jira implementation for organizations with over 200 employees, including the migration of Trello data, system and project administration, and initial help desk support.
  • Coached a semiconductor organization through strategic and portfolio planning, including using Lean Canvas and Lean Startup methodologies. The organization exceeded revenue, profit, and cash targets for both years when I served as a coach.
  • Developed a Scrum quickstart method, including training, coaching, and scrum master support. This methodology was successfully deployed to 15+ teams, taking them from no Agile knowledge to stable, productive Agile teams in six weeks (three sprints).

Agile Project Manager | Quality Manager

2016 - 2017
Altia, Inc.
  • Implemented Agile and acted as a primary scrum master for multiple development teams resulting in improved on-time delivery by 15%.
  • Led the implementation of a quality management system for 50+ employees in nine months, leading to successful certification for ASPICE Level 2. This was a new requirement for future work, so the certification was critical for the company.
  • Spearheaded the engineering-wide deployment of Atlassian Jira and Confluence, including linking to Salesforce and Zendesk for seamless flow. Led the implementation of Jama PLM, which was the first requirements traceability system for the company.

High Performance Management System Leader

2012 - 2014
Spectranetics Corporation
  • Implemented Agile in the supply chain, manufacturing engineering, and M&A integration team for a $130 million company. The integration identified resourcing issues in the first sprint plan leading to immediate resolution for a successful transition.
  • Provided coaching to executives managing departments with Agile teams for successful deployment and support of the teams.
  • Facilitated both process-level and strategy-level sessions within the company. Process level workshops saw 20-60% improvements. Strategy sessions included executive leadership and directors (50 total) to develop an annual strategy.

Operational Excellence | Configuration Management

2009 - 2012
Honeywell Technology Solutions, Inc.
  • Implemented Agile in application support group within IT. Group performance was rated as one of the lowest on the contract at the time. Within six months, the customer rated the performance as above average for the contract.
  • Served as a control account manager for application support utilizing earned value management and combining Agile and Waterfall methods to meet contracted deliverables from government customers for projects ranging from $300,000 to over $1 million.
  • Negotiated a 50% increase in investment in PLM infrastructure from the government customer after demonstrating improved performance with Agile teams.

Agile in Medical Device Product Development

Crafted an Agile solution for hardware product development groups that stayed true to Agile principles while managing activities that could not be completed in sprints, such as engineering change control, external prototype development, and testing.

Worked directly as a scrum master and collaborated with other scrum masters in the organization in a scrum of scrums. We created a Scrum and Kanban team network that allowed full Agile deployment across engineering, document control, supply chain, and quality. This enabled the continuous flow of value while adhering to rigid quality procedures required in an FDA and ISO compliant organization. Solutions included scrum of scrums for prioritization between Scrum and Kanban teams, custom WIP boards, and an organizational change management plan to get departments such as supply chain, quality, and document control onboard and support Agile teams.

Agile and QMS Deployment in Automotive Software

Launched Agile and an Automotive SPICE compliant quality management system for a software development company supporting automotive OEMs.

Acted as an Agile coach, trainer, and scrum master for each team, including training leadership, product owners, scrum masters, and team members. Served as a scrum master for several sprints with each team until sprints were ready to be handed off to the new scrum master.

Led full implementation and integration of Jama product lifecycle management (PLM), Atlassian Jira, and Confluence across the organization.

Implemented a quality management system, including code reviews and traceability through PLM compliant with Automotive SPICE. I helped the organization receive the Level 2 Certification ahead of schedule.

Agile Deployment in Chip Design and Packaging

Deployed Agile, Trello, and Jira in a hardware design and packaging facility, leading to increased efficiency in operations and a reduction in research and development time by 50% and savings of over $1,000,000.

Acted as an Agile coach, trainer, and scrum master for new coaching leaders, product owners, and scrum masters. I also served as a scrum master for each new team until sprints were stable and scrum masters were ready to take over.

Led Jira implementation, including doing Jira administration while training other administrators.

Facilitated annual and quarterly strategy and portfolio planning workshops with company leadership.
